The registration fee does not include accommodation. Check the Accommodation section below for more details on this subject.
Please note that the meeting is limited to 150 participants. You are strongly encouraged to register as soon as possible (if overbooked, registrations will be closed).
Payment is possible by credit card or bank transfer. Further details about the payment procedure is available through your personal mySHVM area.
Cancellations with a refund request must be sent by e-mail to the secretariat and must be accompanied by a valid justification. Refunds will be decided case by case by the organising secretariat. If accepted, cancellations by 19 May 2023 will be refunded less 50% of the registration fee; no refunds will be provided after 19 May 2023.
Abstracts are accepted exclusively through your personal mySHVM area; you will need to have an account to have access to the latter. Signing up for an account does not require an immediate payment. However, please note that all submitted abstracts will be discarded if payment is not received by 21 April 2023.
The abstract submission deadline is 24 March 2023. The Scientific Committee will then review the received abstracts for inclusion in the scientific programme in one of the following formats:
All attendees who submit an abstract are strongly encouraged to submit also a 1-minute video promoting the abstract. There are no fixed guidelines for this video: it should be a “visiting card” of the results that you will be presenting, trying to attract other participants to discuss the work further with you during the meeting itself. The method and deadline for uploading this video will be provided through your mySHVM area.
The "William C. Stanley" Early Investigator Award (EIA) highlights the scientific accomplishments of promising young researchers and is a major focus of the Annual Meeting of the Society for Heart and Vascular Metabolism.
As in previous years, entrants for the EIA competition should be either students or postdoctoral fellows (postdocs or clinical fellows with over 6 years experience are not eligible for the competition). Previous winners of the "William C. Stanley" Early Investigator Award (or its precursor, termed "Early Investigator Commendation") are also not eligible for this competition.
The EIA competition format was redesigned and, since last year, you do not have to specifically sign up for the award. The organisers will automatically select videos (see “New format” section above) submitted by eligible junior participants and enter them into this year’s EIA competition. In other words, whereas the 1-min video is only encouraged (but not mandatory) for everyone submitting an abstract, if you wish to be included in the EIA competition you must submit a video.
The organisers will select four winners for the EIA, based on the abstract and the 1-minute video submitted by eligible candidates. For each winner, the registration fee will be waived and a personal check of 250 USD will be issued. The winners will present their work in a dedicated session (see the Programme, 18 October).
English is the official language for the meeting.
The list of posters and related instructions are available in the programme page (List of posters section).
The Organisers have secured preferential room rates for all SHVM participants in two different hotels. One of them is the conference venue (Das Weitzer Hotel).
Please note that the Austrian Formula 1 Grand Prix will be held in neighbouring Spielberg during the weekend immediately after this meeting. All participants are strongly advised to book their accommodation well in advance since hotels may quickly become unavailable.

To make your reservations, you will have access to dedicated links through your personal mySHVM area after signing up for the meeting. Payment for your accommodation is not included in the registration fee: you will be responsible for booking your room directly and for its payment (most major credit cards are accepted).
Unfortunately, there is an increasing number of fraudulent websites and email promotions claiming to offer registration and accommodation services. Please be advised that payment for your SHVM 2023 attendance can only be processed through this website, within your personal mySHVM area, after you sign up for an account. Also, the SHVM 2023 Organisers have secured preferential rates only with the hotels mentioned above (using the method indicated) and are in no way responsible for arrangements that you make. Please be aware of possible scams.
